Closing Days
January 26, March 27-31, April 18, April 29, May 3-5, July 20, August 6-20, October 18, October 26, November 3, December 23, December 27-January 6 The Library is open, but no circulation service is available on the foll owing days:
1) Monthly Break : the last day of each month (If the last day falls in a weekend or a holiday, the closing day will be the nearest weekday. It is 26 in March, 19 in July, and 24 in December.). 2) Seasonal recess for airing books
The library is open to anyone at the age of 15 or over. In order to read a material, however, you must fill in the Request Form, and submit it at the East Circulation Desk.
If the materials that you would like to read are in the Special Collections, you must request permission in advance. (Please see the Rules for the Special Collections.)
1. You must observe and abide by the following rules when you request us to read the Special Collcetions. 2. The Special Collections are the following:
1) Rare Collections marked by "イ". 2) Special Libraries such as Wataya-Bunko marked by "わ","れ" or "ざ", Kogido-Bunko marked by "古",Yoshida-Bunko marked by "吉" and others. 3) Early Modern Documents marked by "近". 4) Other documents acknowledged as such. 3. You must obtain the Director's permission in advance. Submit the Request Form for Reading Special Collections at least two weeks before the date that you expect to read the Special Collections. 4. You may request no more than five materials in one day. 5. You cannot check out and borrow any of the Special Collections. 6. If you dirty, soil, spoil, damage, harm, ruin, or lose any parts of the Special Collections, you must owe all of the responsibilities. 7. You must also observe our rules regarding photocopies and publication. Note: The originals of the following materials are usually not permitted to read.
1) Important National Cultural Property 2) Materials in facsimile reprints, such as the Series of the Tenri Central Library Rare Collections. 3) Materials reprinted in microfiches and microfilms, such as Wataya-Bunko. 4) Materials that are already or may be severely damaged.
Detailed Rules for the Special Collections of the Tenri Central Library
1. Fill out the Request Form for the Special Collections that you receive at the entrance, and submit it at the East Circulation Desk. 2. You can read the materials you requested only at the seat assigned to you in the hours determined in advance. The library hours for the Special Collections are 9am through 4pm on weekdays. No Circulation Service is available on weekends and at noon on weekdays. The Department of the Special Collections is also closed on the following days:
January 26 (Tenrikyo Spring Grand Service) March 27-31st (Spring Vacation) April 18th (Tenrikyo Oyasama Birth Celebration Service) August 1st-31st (Summer Vacation) October 18th (Tenri Central Library Opening Anniversary) October 26th (Tenrikyo Autumn Grand Service) December 25th-January 7th (Winter Vacation) In addition, the Library will be irregularly closed for two weeks to air the books and the buildings. 3. You may request no more than three sets of the materials or six volumes of the books at one time. 4. When you read the materials, be careful so that you do not change any parts of the originals at all. Use a pencil to take notes. Do not put a paper or anything on the materials to copy the originals. Do not take pictures of the materials, either. 5. If you need to leave your seat even temporarily, return all of the materials to the Circulation Desk.
